January activities for Luga

January activities for Luga:

In January, the children of Luga went to the Science Museum in St. Petersburg. It was quite an adventure. While there, the children learned how thunder is made. They learned about shadows and were able to manipulate their shadows. They played in soap bubbles big enough to fit a person inside! They also leaned how electricity is transferred, found their way through a maze of mirrors and other fun things. Needless to say, the children did not want to leave.

Thank you again for your support. Without you, these events of learning, and wonder would not be taking place.

  1. We adopted our daughter from an orphanage in Luga outside of St.Petersburg, Russia in 2003. I wonder if this is the same one? Her name was and still is Kristina and she is now almost 10 yrs. old. She is doing great!

  2. Hi Kim...if your daughter was adopted as an infant or toddler... it's not the same orphanage. There's a "baby house" orphanage in Luga... that's probably where you adopted Kristina. We work in the Luga internat/orphanage... it's for the children who don't get adopted from the baby house and go on to first grade in school. Most of the children here are age 5 to 16. Thanks for your note about Kristina!

  3. Oh! I had no idea there was another orphanage, Ken. Yes, Kristina was adopted as a 9 month old. Is there any way to contact the "baby house" orphanage to let them know how well Kris is doing? Also, I have Kris' birth mothers' name and DOB. I would love to contact her to encourage her as well. Any advice as to how to search for her? Thanks!
